Bed-in-Room Layout Planner
Arrange an actual bed or frame, furniture and door swings in a measured room, then compare each conventional US bed footprint.
A scaled plan, boundary/collision flags, four bed-side gaps and a same-position comparison of all conventional US sizes.
How this works
Use a room coordinate system with x measured from the left and y from the head/top wall. Rectangles use entered width, length, x/y and a selected 0° or 90° rotation; 90° swaps width and length. Numeric inputs, keyboard nudges and pointer moves update the same measurements. Interior rectangle overlap is collision; touching edges are not overlap. Door swings are entered hinges, radius and inward quadrant, modeled as 90° circular sectors. Sector/rectangle intersection checks the nearest point inside the selected quadrant; swing overflow is reported independently. Left/right/head/foot clearances are axis-aligned gaps between the bed and room walls or furniture whose projections overlap. These gaps are not a continuous route assessment. Alternative nominal bed footprints reuse your chosen origin and rotation; entered frame dimensions remain the authoritative chosen layout. The walking-clearance threshold is your preference, not a legal accessibility standard.
All plan data remains transient. Saving/sharing is disabled for room geometry. Diagrams are entered geometry, never a photograph or product image.

Common questions
Can a king bed fit in my bedroom with room to walk around it?
Enter room and actual bed/frame measurements, furniture and door swings. The planner flags overlap and overflow and compares each side’s gap with your preferred clearance. It cannot certify a complete walking route or safety standard.
Can I operate the planner without dragging?
Yes. Each object has numeric position, dimension and rotation controls. Focus a rectangle and use arrow keys for one-inch moves, or Shift plus an arrow for five inches; the stored coordinates update through the same geometry.
Does a bed-size choice include its frame?
No. The reference table is mattress geometry only. Enter your actual bed/frame footprint for the chosen layout, including projections you want modeled. The nominal-size button is an explicit reference starting point.
What does the door arc mean?
It represents the swept area of a 90° inward door swing with your entered hinge, radius and quadrant. Other opening angles, sliding doors and out-of-room paths are not inferred.
Is the desired clearance an accessibility requirement?
No. It is your personal threshold. This tool does not provide code, legal, accessibility or safety certification; seek qualified guidance for those requirements.
Can a room photo supply measurements?
No. Room, furniture and door geometry must be measured and entered. No photo-based scale or dimension claim is made.
