Care-Label Photo Reader

Crop or rotate a care-tag photo and extract English text on your device. Correct it, select graphic instructions manually and confirm before making a care card.

Photo and text stay private for this visit; English text recognition is assistance, not label authentication.

Care-tag photo

JPG, PNG or WebP · 8 MB maximum · 20 megapixels. English text only; graphic symbols need manual selection. No photo or extracted text is uploaded or stored.

No photo selected. You can enter the text and instructions manually.

Transient text only. OCR cannot reliably identify graphic care symbols.

How this works

A user-selected JPG/PNG/WebP is header-checked for the shared 8 MB / 20 MP limits, decoded locally and bounded before processing. Crop and 90-degree rotation produce a local image Blob. Tesseract.js 7 lazily creates a browser worker, recognizes English text and reports transient text/confidence; confidence is not a truth probability. Worker, traineddata and core assets are downloaded, but no photo or extracted text is uploaded. Language caching is disabled. Empty or editorially low-confidence (<60) transcription is not accepted as recognition; the manual path remains available. Tesseract does not reliably classify care graphics. Only manual structured instructions checked against the original and explicit confirmation produce a result. An optional reusable card stores only these enumerated instructions after a separate click; no photo, OCR text, personal label text or automatic restoration. Opening the wash plan transfers confirmed structure through transient in-app state and still requires review/submission.

Current confirmed manufacturer instructions override general care advice. Unknown permission remains unknown. No pathogen-removal or guaranteed fabric-performance claim.

  1. Care labelling and text-described instructions

    GINETEX · general guidance

    • Care symbols are protected trademarks requiring license for reproduction/use; this tool reproduces no artwork.
    • Care instructions indicate maximum treatment; milder treatments may be used.
    • Celsius wash numbers and bars distinguish temperature from mild / very mild process.
    • Dots distinguish tumble and iron heat levels; no machine temperature mapping inferred.
    • Air-drying line/orientation/shade distinctions and professional P/F/W process/bar restrictions.

Common questions

Can I upload my sheet label to understand how to wash it?

You can select a photo, crop/rotate it and extract text locally. It is not sent for recognition. Check the original, correct the text and select care symbols manually before confirming.

Does OCR recognize the graphical laundry symbols?

Not reliably. This implementation extracts text only; manually select the symbol descriptions you see on the original label.

What happens if the image is blurred or recognition fails?

The result stays unknown or low-confidence. Retake the photo, adjust crop/rotation or enter text and instructions manually. No successful result is fabricated.

What is stored when I save a reusable care card?

Only the explicitly confirmed structured instructions—not the image, text or confidence. Load it explicitly and check against the current label again; delete it at any time.

Can I cancel or clear the photo?

Yes. Cancel terminates active recognition and ignores late results. Removing, resetting or leaving the page releases image and worker resources.

Does confirming text automatically choose a wash setting?

No. Graphic instructions and written restrictions must be checked manually. Unknowns stay unknown, and the wash planner asks you to review complete permissions before choosing settings.
