US Bed Sheet Size Chart: Fitted, Flat and Pillowcase Dimensions
Start with your mattress width, length and covered depth—not the sheet-set name alone. US mattress names provide useful reference footprints, but flat sheets and pillowcases have product-specific dimensions. The two charts below keep mattress measurements separate from one manufacturer’s bedding examples, so you can compare the right measurements without treating a competitor’s chart as Abeero Home specifications.
[1] Casper · US Twin, Twin XL, Queen, King and California King reference footprints are shown in the mattress chart. Mattress references only; not sheet dimensions or fit guarantees.
[3] Brooklinen · Brooklinen lists the fitted-sheet dimensions reproduced as attributed examples below. These belong to Brooklinen; none is an Abeero Home specification.
In this guide
US mattress reference dimensions
Read these as width × length. Full is also commonly called Double, and California King is often shortened to Cal King. Mattress height is deliberately absent: a size name does not tell you how thick your mattress is, and an added topper changes the depth a fitted sheet must cover.
| Item | Width × length, inches | Width × length, cm |
|---|---|---|
| Twin | 38 × 75 | 96.52 × 190.50 |
| Twin XL | 38 × 80 | 96.52 × 203.20 |
| Full / Double [2] Sleep Foundation · The conventional Full reference used here is 54 × 75 inches. A general reference, not a universal manufactured width. | 54 × 75 reference | 137.16 × 190.50 |
| Queen | 60 × 80 | 152.40 × 203.20 |
| King | 76 × 80 | 193.04 × 203.20 |
| California King | 72 × 84 | 182.88 × 213.36 |
References are starting points. Confirm your actual mattress and the seller’s intended fit dimensions.
[1] Casper · US Twin, Twin XL, Queen, King and California King reference footprints are shown in the mattress chart. Mattress references only; not sheet dimensions or fit guarantees.
Calculation basis: Multiply each inch measurement by 2.54; the tables retain two decimal places rather than replacing measured values with rounded size names.
Do not treat a small difference as a measuring mistake automatically. Casper’s own Full reference is 53 × 75 inches rather than the 54 × 75 convention above. Write down the width you actually have, and retain that value when checking a sheet; choosing “Full” must not silently overwrite it.
[1] Casper · Casper publishes a 53 × 75-inch Full reference. Measure the particular mattress rather than resolving a one-inch difference by its name.
A separate product chart: Brooklinen examples
The following measurements are taken from Brooklinen’s published bedding chart. They are examples of how product dimensions are described—not a recommendation, an Abeero Home size chart, or proof of any sheet’s supported mattress depth. The fitted column has three measurements; the flat column has two. Keeping those columns separate avoids comparing unlike objects.
| Item | Fitted sheet | Flat sheet | Pillowcase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Twin | 39 × 75 × 16 | 71 × 98 | 20 × 27 |
| Twin XL | 39 × 80 × 16 | 71 × 104 | 20 × 27 |
| Full | 54 × 75 × 16 | 86 × 98 | 20 × 27 |
| Queen | 60 × 80 × 16 | 92 × 104 | 20 × 27 |
| King | 76 × 80 × 16 | 110 × 104 | 20 × 37 |

Why flat sheets and pillowcases need their own check
There is no single flat-sheet measurement you can infer safely from “Queen.” Brooklinen lists 92 × 104 inches, while Casper’s guide gives approximately 96 × 102. These are different rectangles. How each hangs depends on your mattress width, covered depth, head placement and desired tuck—not just whether both packages say Queen.
[3] Brooklinen · Brooklinen publishes the flat-sheet dimensions shown in the product example table. One manufacturer’s chart, not universal US dimensions.
[4] Casper · Casper notes brand-dependent flat-sheet dimensions and gives approximately 96 × 102 inches for Queen. Compared with Brooklinen’s 92 × 104, this demonstrates why a size name is not a single flat-sheet measurement.
Hypothetical example: Comparing two Queen flat-sheet references
- Mattress width:
- 60 in
- Flat-sheet widths:
- 92 in and 96 in
- Centered side overhang is (sheet width − mattress width) ÷ 2.
- (92 − 60) ÷ 2 = 16 inches per side; (96 − 60) ÷ 2 = 18 inches per side.
- Those values are overhang from the top edge, not remaining tuck after covering mattress depth.
One example provides 2 more inches per side. Neither calculation establishes fitted-sheet compatibility.
Likewise, a pillow’s dimensions are not automatically its case’s dimensions. Brooklinen’s Standard pillow is 20 × 26 inches (50.80 × 66.04 cm), but the listed standard case is 20 × 27 inches (50.80 × 68.58 cm). Its King pillow is 20 × 36 inches (50.80 × 91.44 cm), and its listed King case is 20 × 37 inches (50.80 × 93.98 cm). Do not turn that one-inch difference into a universal allowance for every filling or closure.
[3] Brooklinen · Brooklinen lists 20 × 27-inch and 20 × 37-inch cases, separately from 20 × 26-inch and 20 × 36-inch pillows. Pillow and pillowcase measurements are distinct products.
Record the four facts that matter before buying
Your measurement record
- Actual mattress width and length, in the units you measured.
- Covered depth with every layer that will sit under the fitted sheet.
- Exact product’s intended mattress footprint and supported depth—not only a pocket seam measurement.
- Flat-sheet dimensions and included pillowcase sizes/counts for the exact set, not a universal four-piece assumption.
Abeero Home’s catalog offers Twin, Full, Queen, King and California King, not Twin XL. Availability is a size label, not proof of fit. Where an exact variant’s intended fit limits have not been established, leave the outcome unconfirmed rather than borrowing Brooklinen’s dimensions. Use the tools below to organize your measurements and missing specifications before choosing size, color or quantity.
Put this into practice
- Identify the reference closest to your measured mattress
Compare your actual width and length with named references while keeping nearest size separate from fit.
- Check footprint and covered depth against documented fit
See which exact sheet specifications you still need before deciding that a fitted sheet is compatible.
- Compare your pillow with the case you plan to use
Keep the actual pillow, case dimensions and any supplier allowance separate.
Common questions
Are mattress sizes and fitted-sheet dimensions the same?
They describe different objects. A mattress reference is a footprint; a fitted-sheet chart may include fabric or pocket measurements. Ask for the intended mattress footprint and supported covered depth before interpreting a product measurement as fit.
Is there one standard Queen flat-sheet size?
No single measurement should be assumed. Brooklinen publishes 92 × 104 inches, while Casper’s guide gives approximately 96 × 102. Check the exact product and your preferred overhang.

[4] Casper · Casper notes brand-dependent flat-sheet dimensions and gives approximately 96 × 102 inches for Queen. Compared with Brooklinen’s 92 × 104, this demonstrates why a size name is not a single flat-sheet measurement.
Why is Twin 38 inches wide here but a fitted sheet says 39?
The 38-inch value is a mattress reference. Brooklinen’s 39-inch value belongs to its listed Twin fitted sheet. Do not substitute one for the other or infer an allowance for another brand.

[3] Brooklinen · Brooklinen lists the fitted-sheet dimensions reproduced as attributed examples below. These belong to Brooklinen; none is an Abeero Home specification.
How do I convert a measurement to centimeters?
Multiply inches by 2.54. For example, 60 inches is 152.40 cm. Keep the original measured value; round only the displayed conversion.
Calculation basis: Multiply each inch measurement by 2.54; the tables retain two decimal places rather than replacing measured values with rounded size names.
Does a King set always contain King pillowcases?
Check the exact set’s included items and their dimensions. A bed-size name alone does not establish pillowcase size, number or suitability for your pillows.
